boarding schools for girls

Solstice RTC provides a top boarding school for girls. As a fully integrated academic program for troubled teen girls, we specialize in experiential therapy (milieu, adventure, and equine-assisted therapy) that is aimed to restore troubled youth from mental and behavioral health related problems.

Solstice RTC is a holistic inpatient treatment center for troubled teen girls between the ages of 14 and 18. Solstice uses a combined mind and body approach to address issues in troubled teens. Treatments are individually focused to provide each young lady with the maximum possible benefit. At Solstice, educational programs are designed as a part of therapy. The Solstice RTC master plan consists of integrated schooling in combination with world class inpatient therapy.

Positive educational experiences are very important for troubled young women from all backgrounds. Over the years, Solstice has found that troubled teen girls often struggle in school, and helping them to get a handle on that plays a large part in helping to set healthy long-term goals. Solstice has painstakingly created an educational program for female students to improve their scores here and prepare them to excel when they return home. Solstice takes an integrated approach to designing an academic program that will fit for each student to get them where they need to be upon discharge from Solstice.

Overcoming Academic And Behavioral Problems

Troubled adolescent girls in the program come to Solstice RTC looking for ways for overcoming academic and behavioral problems; the causes range from trauma, depression, anxiety, eating disorders, self-harm, substance abuse, and many other emotionally associated mental afflictions. These types of issues are often all consuming and leave little room for other “regular” activities such as schooling. Because of this, many of the troubled teen girls at Solstice arrive to our facility significantly behind in school when compared to their peers.

It has been Solstice’s experience that in addition to conventional treatments, residents also greatly benefit from boarding schools for girls, where they are able to get back on track and even catch up with their studies. Solstice’s boarding school for girls runs five semesters every year, and, if it fits the student, it can be intensive. Many students have been able to complete 1.5 years of study within one year’s time.

As a fully integrated academic program and residential treatment center, Solstice is devoted to the rehabilitation and education of our adolescent residents. Through our psychiatric services (individual, group, and substance abuse/addiction therapy) and clinical therapy (cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavioral, and somatic therapy) services, teen girls have the best chance to recover from concerns such as alcohol dependence, video game addiction (gaming), anger/defiance, and/or ADD/ADHD (attention disorders) problems.

Girls Boarding School

Why is education such a crucial part of a therapeutic treatment plan?

Research shows that the more integrated and involved the treatment, the better the outcome for troubled teen girls in the long run. The approach here at Solstice RTC promotes managing mental health issues appropriately, building a strong relationship, and customizing the treatment regimen if possible. For each struggling teen girl, it's critical to build strong relationships with their peers and their supporting staff to ensure high treatment adherence while attending girls boarding schools. These relationships are built through therapy, social interaction, and learning.

The age and maturity range of struggling teen girls at Solstice RTC are in assorted stages of moving from complete dependence as a child, to a more autonomous existence. In the therapy world, researchers have found this stage of development does not typically adhere to psychological treatments, simply because there is so much going on. Best results at girls boarding schools are typically realized through fully integrated solutions; combining mind, body, and the external world in treatment.

The Solstice academic program plays a role in all three of these aspects. The mind, both concrete and emotional thought processes are addressed through carefully tailored educational programs. The student will physically reap the benefits through the feeling of a "job well done," as progress is made. The body is directly addressed through our outdoor and adventure activities. Presentation of new found success at a "task deemed a rite of passage" to young girls provides both exposure and new understanding for the world around them.

Helping Students Produce Better Overall Scores

Solstice RTC is proud to be able to claim success, not only in treatment, but in helping students produce better overall scores and the hope of going to college. Here is what Solstice has been able to do over the years:
